What is Drawing and Drafting ?

Ø Which Languages do you speak?

English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil..... Etc.

Ø Why do we use these Languages?

To communicate with others, and to share Ideas, Information, Feelings etc. with others.

"But Engineering Language is Quite Different."

Ø Let take an example:

 

 A person Mr X wants to create some Engineering Product. When he thinks about it his mind creates that Objet in his Mind in the form of Idea. But he cannot convert that idea into Real Objet by his mind alone.  Now he requires External Assistance so he decides to share his idea among the peoples.

            But it was difficult to explain what exactly was there in his mind by our Routine Languages. So he take a Paper and share his Idea by making Shapes & Sketch.

 

This way by Graphical Representation he conveyed his Idea to other…

Ø What is Drawing?

Drawing is a form of visual art in which a person uses various drawing instruments to mark paper or another two-dimensional medium. Instruments include graphite pencils, pen and ink, various kinds of paints, inked brushes, wax colored pencils, crayons, charcoal, chalk, pastels, various kinds of erasers, markers, styluses, and various metals (such as silverpoint).

Ø What is Digital Drawing?

Digital drawing is the act of using a computer to draw. Common methods of digital drawing include a stylus or finger on a touchscreen device, stylus- or finger-to-touchpad, or in some cases, a mouse. There are many digital art programs and devices.

Ø What is a Sketch?

A quick, freehand drawing, usually not intended as a finished work, is sometimes called a sketch.

Ø Who is a Draftsman?

An artist who practices or works in technical drawing may be called a drafter, draftsman or a draughtsman.

Ø Engineering Dawning are Prepared by 2 Most common Methods:

Ø  Manual Drafting

Ø  Using CAD Systems ( Computer Aided Design )

Ø Manual Drafting:

The basic procedure for manual drafting is to place the Sheet of Paper on a Drawing Board which has a smooth surface. And the drawing are make using different Instruments shown in the picture below.

Today, the mechanics of the drafting task have largely been automated and accelerated through the use of Computer-Aided Design Systems (CAD).

 There are two types of computer-aided design systems used for the production of technical drawings 2D- Two Dimensions and 3D - Three Dimensions.
